PSYCHOTHERAPY
Psychotherapy may be defined as the treatment of a behavior disorder, mental illness, or any other condition by psychological means.  There are many forms of psychotherapy, in our center we emphasize awareness, insights and understanding.

Psychotherapy can benefit many conditions in particular eating disorders and other addictive behaviors.  Psychotherapy is a cornerstone of bulimia, drug and alcohol treatment or any mental disorder. 

A 6-week clinical trial showed that guided imagery helped people with bulimia reduce bingeing and vomiting, feel more able to comfort themselves, and improve their feelings about their bodies and eating.

Psychotherapy helps:
  • Self-knowledge.
  • Behavioral changes, becoming aware of thought patterns that block us from being happy.
  • Mind control, learning to focus our attention where we choose . . . and not reacting automatically and unconsciously to other people's behavior.
  • Direction setting.
  • Developing skills in validating the good in ourselves and in others.
There are many different types of psychotherapy.  At Hawaii Naturopathic Retreat Center we use
