INHALANTS AND SOLVENTS
- ADDICTION & REHABILITATION
|
Inhalants
National surveys indicate that inhalant abuse is particulaly prevalent among young people. Inhalants are any household products that can be inhaled or sniffed by children to get high.
Some young people may abuse inhalants as a substitute for alcohol because they can be obtained easily. Data suggest that abuse reaches its peak at some point during the seventh through ninth grades.
Ordinary household products
Inhalants are ordinary household products that contain volatile solvents or aerosols . These breathable chemical vapors are intentionally inhaled because of their chemicals' mind-altering effects.
There are hundreds of household products on the market today that can be misused as inhalants. Most inhalants produce a rapid high that resembles alcohol intoxication. If sufficient amounts are inhaled, nearly all solvents and gases produce a loss of sensation, and even unconsciousness.
Damaging effects
Inhalants can produce a variety of deleterious effects - including
- reduced vision
- reduced hearing
- impaired movement, and
- lowered cognitive ability, sometimes to the point of dementia - by stripping the protective myelin sheath from brain fibers.
Sudden Sniffing Death Syndrome
Inhalants can produce a variety of deleterious effects-including reduced vision and hearing, impaired movement, and lowered cognitive ability, sometimes to the point of dementia-by stripping the protective myelin sheath from brain fibers.
55% of deaths linked to inhalant abuse are caused by "Sudden Sniffing Death Syndrome". SSDS can occur on the first use or any use.

Statistics and trends
National surveys indicate that inhalant abuse is particularly prevalent among young people. The NIDA-funded 2007 Monitoring the Future Study showed that 8.3% of 8th graders, 6.6% of 10th graders, and 3.7% of 12th graders had abused inhalants at least once in the year prior to being surveyed.

Since these drugs are readily available it is essential for the addicted person to make a complete internal change about her goals, priorities, and values so that she becomes disinterested in using these products.
When these products lose their attraction it becomes safe for the ex-user to enter any store and live a normal life.

ADDICTION RECOVERY
- COCAINE -
I had been doing drugs heavily for 16 years and no rehab or therapist could change me.
I was too full of toxins for the twelve-step program to ever work on me. I needed to clean my body out so that I could feel normal enough to fight the desire to do drugs.
Dr Baylac awakened me.
I have remained cocaine free now for 2 years (2008)....
